Proposer: Norman Wilsea
Funding allocated: £1955.40

The Proposal

The Older People’s Group at West Marsh Community Centre was awarded £1995 RCC grant. The funding provided a safe, comfortable space and reminiscence facility at the West March community Centre for the use of the older members, particularly those with memory difficulties or dementia.

The reminiscence facility became a sensory room and the funding was matched by the heartwell group. The room is available for over 50s to come and spend quiet time and de-stress. In order to sustain the room the community centre hire out the room for other uses including therapy treatments which are used by some of the older members, regularly. The room is used on a weekly basis by the Older People’s Group of approximately 30 people, and it is used by older people to watch archive films, for local history, and now a reminiscence group has been started listening to LPs of music from years gone by.
