Introduction to CREATiVE stART:

CREATivEstART is a community interest company that provides support, aftercare and opportunities for those in recovery and their affected others. They deliver an abstinence based peer recovery programme, using art as an integral part of the recovery model.
The workshops provide a safe place for those in recovery from addiction, and other areas of health that require ongoing aftercare and a support network.

By using a peer support structure that focuses on trust and personal development they tackle the stigma attached to addiction, and also feel that it is important to provide support for the families and loved ones of those affected.

The project teaches various art techniques and involves members in all aspects, including the planning and delivery of creative community projects, such as murals, art exhibitions, donations & events. This includes designing merchandise to help sustain the service, including art prints, badges, keyrings, magnets & t-shirts.

Their vision is to help all members create works of art that can be exhibited locally, helping to rebuild confidence and self-esteem.
CREATivEstART arts in health C.I.C is a not for profit community interest company.

All profits are used to provide support and aftercare for people
affected by addiction and to fund creative projects in the community.

Through the support of the health and wellbeing funds we have made steps from being a voluntary peer support group to becoming a sustainable Community Interest company.

There have been 67 new members of CREATivE start during the project; 7 members have essential roles within CREATivE stART.

We have worked and formed relationships with a number of other services and projects, including Class Act theatre, Community Roots, TechShed, Grimsby Amateur Boxing club, Friends of Weelsby, YMCA, Floral hall, Harbour Place, Vanel, Workwise Women, Lincs inspire and many others.
